(A) No person shall install, monitor, operate or use an Alarm System that emits an audible sound where such emission does not automatically cease 10 minutes from the initial activation of the Alarm. Nothing in this section shall limit the duration of a fire or other evacuation alarm during a bona fide emergency when the sound may assist in saving life or avoiding injury.

(B) It is unlawful for any person to install, monitor, operate or use an Alarm System that does any of the following:

(1) Automatically dials, or is programmed to automatically dial, directly to a police department;

(2) Prevents termination of a call by Public Safety Personnel;

(3) Is programmed to transmit directly to any public safety facility;

(4) Emits a sound similar to that of an emergency vehicle or civil defense warning system;

(5) Functions or is programmed as a silent burglar alarm (excluding Automatic Teller Machine “ATM” silent alarms); or

(6) Has a single action non-recessed button as a device to activate a Panic or Duress Alarm or a “one-plus” programming that activates a Panic or Duress Alarm. (Ord. 12-1252, passed 2-13-2012)
