(A) All water sold by the City shall be metered by water meters which shall be owned and maintained by the City. The City in its sole discretion reserves the right to change water meters used at any location at any time when deemed reasonably appropriate by City.

(B) All water meters to be used within the City’s service area shall be in compliance with the City’s approved materials list(s) and approved by the Director.

(C) All water meters shall be placed on public property, right-of-way or easement adjacent to customer property.

(D) Service line(s) and equipment belonging to the customer shall be arranged to permit the placing of a single water meter for that property and be in compliance with the City Engineering Design Standards. A separate service line is required for each additional water meter. A monthly service charge will be assessed for each meter.

(E) When two or more water meters are installed on the same premises for different customers, they shall be closely grouped and each water meter shall have a separate service line.

(F) Water meters shall not be placed in driveways or roadways and shall be unobstructed so as to allow for access for maintenance and repair by the City.

(G) The property owner shall be responsible for ensuring that a three-foot radius around the water meter box, water main valve, water meter reading structure/device, water appurtenances and fire hydrants remains free of any obstructions, including but not limited to, trees, shrubs, plants, or other obstructions. Failure to comply with this provision may result in the City removing and/or clearing the obstruction(s) at the sole expense of the property owner.

(H) City employees, its representatives and agents shall have the right to enter the customer’s property to access all City infrastructure and appurtenances located on the customer’s property. (Ord. 06-1012, passed 6-26-2006; Am. Ord. 14-1299, passed 8-18-2014. Formerly 14-6-1)
