(A) Cross-connection shall be prevented and eliminated from plumbing systems, wherever found, and adequate backflow prevention devices shall be used to prevent contamination of the water supply.

(B) No person shall do any of the following:

(1) Allow cross-connection to the public water system;

(2) Fail to install an approved backflow prevention assembly as required by City Code, design standards, and standard details;

(3) Fail to properly use, maintain, test, and certify a backflow prevention assembly; or

(4) Alter, remove, or bypass a backflow prevention assembly.

(C) Violation of this section may result in the disconnection from the City water system and the imposition of all criminal and civil penalties available by law and restitution. Restitution would include but is not limited to the costs and fees associated with flushing the line(s), laboratory testing, and bringing the public water system back in compliance with all Federal, State and county law and guidelines.
