(A) Temporary suspension of sanitation services may be authorized in limited situations such as military relocation outside of the State of Arizona, a severe medical condition, death of an immediate family member or other extreme emergency. The administrative process for applying for temporary suspension is set forth in the City of Goodyear Administrative Process Manual, Temporary Suspension of Sanitation Services Application Process:

(1) The residence for which temporary suspension has been approved shall remain vacant during the suspension period. Noncompliance with this section shall result in the immediate reactivation of sanitation services and back payment for all sanitation services for the approved suspension period.

(2) Each period of suspension shall not exceed six months. The customer may apply for additional periods of suspension.

(3) Service will automatically be reactivated at the end of the approved suspension period with no reactivation fee assessed, unless a request for an additional period of temporary suspension has been requested and approved by the City prior to the automatic reactivation. Failure to timely request an extension prior to reactivation will not preclude approval of an extension, but will result in the resident incurring sanitation fees pending approval.

(B) No suspension shall be deemed authorized unless and until the customer receives written confirmation from the City that the customer’s request for temporary suspension of sanitation services has been approved.

(C) Denial of a temporary suspension may be appealed to the City Manager as provided in Section 10-2-7(I). (Ord. 11-1232, passed 1-24-2011; Am. Ord. 14-1297, passed 8-18-2014. Formerly 10-1-9)
